Accepting and Carrying on the Baton

Accepting and Carrying on the Baton

In every organization, association, and office, people come and go but systems do not and must not.  This is rational in the sense that any organization is dynamic.  Heads of offices may leave and transfer to another office just as employees enter and exit over time.  It is a phenomenon described by the fact that no one is indispensable.  No one is good enough not to be replaced on matter of rules, policies and systems in place.

Tracing back history, even during “the Glory that was Greece and the Grandeur that was Rome” marked its influence in Western civilization and development with its enduring impact towards advancement into a modern culture.  Symbolically, if it were a sports competition, the leader passes the torch for continuity while the baton is similarly passed and accepted by the team players to carry on and finish the race.

The Association of General and Flag Officers Inc. (AGFO) as a formal organization established in 1965 withstood the test of time as it passed and carried on the baton with fervor, dedication and responsibility.

The new Board of Trustees for CY 2025 after having taken oath in December last year buckled down to work with renewed enthusiasm, vigor and commitment to deliver and make things happen for the Association and its members.

Together with AGFO members, we as the Board led by the Chairman and President shall always work for the greater interests directed towards the pursuit of the Association’s mandate.

We then pledge to dedicate and re-dedicate our unswerving commitment to work towards a common purpose in order to accomplish our tasks.  Individually we cannot do much but collectively we can do a lot better and produce better results.  We must   always work for and place the greater interests of the majority on a priority basis rather than the personal interests of the few.  It is in unity that we find cooperation, enthusiasm, comfort and confidence as we utilize every individual member’s potential geared towards selfless interests.

Let us join hands as we strive always to help defend and preserve our democracy under the rule of law, promote the common good and help maintain the high state of morale and discipline in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology including the advancement of welfare of all its members.
